Push Notification

What are Push Notifications?

Push Notifications are notifications sent directly to the face of your users' mobile devices. Push Notifications can be used for announcements, upcoming events, and more.

When a user receives a push notification, it is displayed as a banner or notification on the device lock screen, depending on the user's device settings.

NOTE

Users must have notifications enabled on their mobile device in order to receive notifications.

To enable push notifications on a mobile device, see Enable Notifications - iOS or Enable Notifications - Android.

TOP TIPS

Push notifications should be used to communicate reminders, updates and other information to app users. Below are Alosant’s recommendations to help you deliver complete, timely, and targeted information to your app users.

  1. Plan to send at least one notification per week to elicit app engagement.
  2. Schedule notification delivery in the morning (9:00-11:00 am) or evening (4:00-6:00 pm) for optimal reach.
  3. Keep your notification message short and simple. Push notification text should not exceed 200 characters.
  4. Provide additional information in the app. Always include an Action to open a page, event, or menu in the app to drive users to the app for details.
  5. Select the correct audience to keep your notification relevant to app users.
  6. Send notifications in advance of important events, temporary closures, or use to share do-not-miss updates with your community.

To configure, see Create a Push Notification.
