Smart Buttons

What are Smart Buttons?

Smart Buttons are visible buttons within the app that are used for sending commands to the admin. You can utilize smart buttons to link out to a URL, capture information from a user, open an existing page within the app, link to a browser, and more.

The buttons hold content that allow a user to take additional actions within the app. There are many types of Smart Buttons, see Smart Button Types.

Smart Buttons can be placed at the top of the Home feed, on any page, or on any event.

Smart Button Types

The following types of Smart Buttons can be used in your app:

1. Admin Request

a. Creates a customized form of questions and actions within the app. You can utilize the Admin Request for maintenance or other requests, while also adding other actions such as open an existing app page or open a file. App users can tap the button to complete the request.

2. File Download

- a. Loads a PDF or other document. App users can tap the button to download the file to view or save.

3. Image Gallery

- a. Uploads multiple images. App users can tap the button to see and scroll the images.

4. Initiate Call

- a. Lists a phone number that users can call. App users can tap the button to open the device call action to initiate a call to the correct number.

5. List Events

- a. Lists multiple events together. Within an event, select a flag. Then create the List Events smart button by selecting the corresponding flag. App users can tap the button to view these events.

6. List Places

- a. Lists selected pages together. App users can tap the button to view these places.

7. List Users

- a. Lists users that are part of a certain user role. This button type is only viewable from the Neighbors menu. App users can tap the button to view applicable users.

8. Make a Payment

- a. Take payment from a user within the app. App users can tap the button to be charged the listed amount for the event or service listed.

9. Menu Set

- a. Group file download smart buttons. App users can tap the button to view the selected files.

10. Open Email App

- a. Lists an email address. App users can tap the button to open the device email action to send an email to a specified email address.

11. Open a Browser

- a. Links to an external URL. App users can tap the button to open a web page within the app.

12. Open a P&A

- a. Links to an existing page in the app. App users can tap the button to open another app page.

13. Open an Event

- a. Links to an existing event in the app. App users can tap the button to quickly open any event.

14. Reserve a P&A

- a. Links to a page reservation form in the app. App users can tap the button to begin a new amenity reservation.

15. Reserve an Event

- a. Links to an event reservation form in the app. App users can tap the button to begin a new event reservation.

16. Search

- a. Searches information within the app. App users can tap the button to search for existing events, parks and amenities, clubs, or documents within the app.

17. Text Message

- a. Lists a phone number. App users can tap the button to open the device message action to send a text message to a specified phone number.

18. Workflow

- a. Create a series of questions for the user to respond to in order to gather information. App users can tap the button to complete the form for submission to admins.

19. Zendesk History

- a. Shows historical Zendesk ticket requests for the user. App users can tap the button to view Zendesk history.

20. Zendesk Request

- a. Creates a Zendesk ticket request through the app. App users can tap the button to submit a ticket by typing in their request, uploading an image, and sharing their location.

Create a Smart Button

To create a Smart Button, please follow the steps below:

1. In the Admin sidebar, find and select Smart Buttons.

2. Click + New Smart Button.

3. Select the appropriate action from the Function dropdown. Smart Button configuration details vary based on the Function selected. For a definition of Functions, see Smart Button Types.

4. Type the text that you want the user to see on the smart button in the User-Visible Text field.

5. Copy that text to the Reference Name field.

6. Select the appropriate Triggers to associate the Smart Button to particular users.

7. Select the Scope for where you want this button to appear in the app.

- a. Use P&A screen to select any Location / Amenity / Page page type within the app.

- b. Use Event screen to select an event within the app.

- c. Use Club screen to select any Club page type within the app.

- d. Use Home feed to add this button to the top of the app Home feed.

- e. Use Marketplace screen to select any Marketplace page type within the app.

8. Fill other fields as necessary based on the Function or Scope selected.

9. Adjust the Priority as necessary for placement when multiple Smart Buttons share the same Scope. The largest number priority is shown first as you view from left to right.

10. Click Save.

11. Triggers will run automatically overnight, or click Run Triggers Now.

Delete a Smart Button

To delete a Smart Button, please follow the steps below:

1. In the Admin sidebar, find and select Smart Buttons.

2. Find and select the smart button that you want to delete.

3. Scroll down, then click x Delete.
